FAQs - Fibre for business

You can find the answers to all of your questions in our Help Centre.

Will it cost to get fibre broadband installed to our business?

There’s a good chance it will cost your business very little to switch to fibre broadband. It’s best to start by talking to your preferred internet service or IT provider and they will work with us to confirm any installation costs.

Will there be a disruption to my day-to-day business during the installation?

Your retailer will work with Enable and you to ensure that there is very little impact on your business during the switch to fibre broadband. It usually involves a simple switch over of your IT services from your old connection to the new fibre broadband connection, once the installation is complete.

Will it really be faster and allow me to do more online?

arrow-down

Yes. Fibre broadband is substantially faster than your old copper broadband service, exactly how fast will depend on the plan you choose with your retailer. With fibre you can enjoy more online business services such as cloud services, data networking and video conferencing. It may also increase the efficiency of your people and give them more flexibly in the way they work.

Will my fibre broadband services work if there is a power cut?

arrow-down

Your fibre broadband connection won't work in the event of a power cut – as the network equipment in your home requires power.

One option is to purchase an Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) battery unit as a backup in case of a power cut. A UPS is available from most major electronics retailers. Another option is to ensure you have a mobile phone as a backup.

Some retailers have announced that they are moving away from phone systems that will work without power. You may want to check with your internet and phone retailer to see what their plans are.
